Recommendations
Regarding the installation modes, although the
Smart Spot devices can be installed on walls,
masts or streetlights, there are different
recommendations that should be beared in
mind in order to find the best locations to
install Smart Spot devices for a more accurate
monitoring.
Noise monitoring data, for instance, are more
accurate and reliable when the device is
installed 2 meters from a wall. On this way, the
noise reflected on the walls are avoided, as
described at ISO 1996-2 2009. Nonetheless,
the Smart Spot allows to introduce a correction
parameter for wall installation (-3dB) as
described on the normative, to avoid the
reflected noise. Moreover, to reach an accurate
Air Quality monitoring, the device should be
installed avoiding nearby transformers and
antennas that may cause interferences gas
sensors.
Additionally, it is essential to exclude certain
areas in which is allowed to smoke or there are
smoke extractors from coffee shops or
kitchens in order to avoid interference in
measurements of gases and particulate matter.
As a final recommendation it is also
recommended to install the devices in open and
clean spaces for a more accurate and efficient
monitoring of both noise and air quality
parameters.
