10.1
Connecting the power supply
The power supply can come from the fire alarm control panel or from an external power unit.
To supply power to the
IQ8
Wireless transponder you must install a separate, protected supply
line. The connection cable must comply with the guidelines relating to the functions of fire
alarm systems. If several
IQ8
Wireless transponders are connected to a shared power supply,
each power line must be protected individually and non-reactively, for example with the 8-fuse
card (Part No. 382040).
Monitoring the power supply
The external power supply is monitored by the wireless transponder. If the
IQ8
Wireless
transponder is installed as a device on the analog loop of the
IQ8
Control fire alarm system,
a fault is transmitted via the loop to the fire alarm control panel where it is displayed.
If you connect the
IQ8
Wireless transponder to a standard detector zone, the >Common fault
relay< (SaS-Stör) output may be used to report faults.

A VdS-approved power unit according to EN54-4 must be connected to supply
power to the
IQ8
Wireless transponder, e.g. external 12 V DC power unit with
battery compartment (Part No. 785653)
or
24 V DC design (Part No. 785655).
