Mounting and Connection Instructions IK3 Operating Unit with Keypad
3.
Functional description
The K
operating units are designed for contactless identification of transponders data carriers
e.g. ID chipcards). A combination of transponder and PIN can be used for performing functions via
the keypad.
With a write/read transponder, the data on the transponder are changed by a special algorithm after
every read process. This results in a high
The IK3 write/read transponders are equipped with a special code at the factory. (The same types
of transponder without code cannot be used.)
The transmitted code is prepared in the operating unit so that the connected IK3 evaluation unit
can continue the processing e.g. switching and control functions.
Communication between the operating unit and EU is via an RS-485 bus.
The state is indicated via 3 LEDs (ready, disarmed, alarm). A buzzer is integrated for acoustical
acknowledgement. For further details, please refer to the operating manual P00652-03-002-xx.

In order to read a transponder an electromagnetic field with a frequency of 125 kHz is transmitted
from the operating unit. As soon as a transponder enters this field, it transmits a code in the "power
field" to the operating unit.
The reader in the IK3 operating unit can read all IK2 transponders used so far. These include, key
caps, key fobs, watches and chipcards with transponder.
The IK3 operating units were designed for
