STARTING THE ENGINE
16.If you pulled out the choke knob
to the ON position to start the
engine, return it slowly to the OFF
position, and turn the throttle grip
in the SLOW direction to a
position where the engine does not
stall.
Keep clear of moving parts.
17.Reinstall the engine cover (see
page 31).
(Do not install flywheel cover.)
Take extreme care when installing
the engine cover. The flywheel is
rotating. Do not operate without
the engine cover. Exposed moving
parts could cause injury and
starter may damage the engine.
18.Attach the emergency stop switch
lanyard securely to the operator
and return to the closest boat
landing.
19.After returning to the closest boat
landing, contact your closest
authorized Honda outboard motor
dealer and perform the following.
• Have the starting system and
electrical system checked.
• Have your dealer reassemble the
parts removed in the emergency
starting procedure.
