7. STARTING THE ENGINE
Priming the Carburetor with Gasoline
(When using the internal fuel tank )
When starting the engine for the first
time after purchasing an outboard
motor, or when starting the engine
after draining the gasoline, pull the
starter grip about 10 times without
attaching the emergency stop switch
clip to fill the carburetor with gasoline.
If you do not fill fuel to the upper level
of the internal fuel tank, fuel loading to
the carburetor may be insufficient.
1. Fill fuel to upper level of the
internal fuel tank.
2. Open the internal fuel filler cap vent
knob 2 to 3 turns counterclockwise.
3. Turn the fuel valve lever to the ON
position (BF4A) or internal fuel
tank position (BF5D and BF6A).
4. Move the shift lever to the
NEUTRAL position. The starter
cannot be operated unless the shift
lever is set in the NEUTRAL
position.
