Spark Plug Installation
Install the spark plug by hand until finger tight, then
tighten with a spark plug wrench until the sealing gas-
ket is compressed (1/2 turn to compress a new spark
plug gasket, 1/8 – 1/4 turn to compress a spark plug
with a used gasket).
(1) SPARK PLUG
Crankshaft Hole Cap Installation
Coat a new O-ring with grease and install it onto the
crankshaft hole cap.
Apply grease to the crankshaft hole cap threads.
Install and tighten the crankshaft hole cap.
TORQUE: 11 lbf

4. SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
Cylinder Head Cover Installation
Remove the spark plug hole packing from the cylinder
head cover.
Install the spark plug hole packing to the spark plug hole.
(1) SPARK PLUG HOLE PACKING
(2) SPARK PLUG HOLE
Install the cylinder head packing into the groove of the
cylinder head cover.
Loosen the lock nut and adjusting screw.
Insert the feeler gauge (right exhaust valve clearance

0.014 in (0.35 mm); see page 31) between the adjust-
ing screw and right side rocker arm.
Turn the adjusting screw until there is a slight drag on
the feeler gauge.
Hold the adjusting screw and tighten the lock nut.
TORQUE: 7 lbf

Recheck the clearance between the adjusting screw and
right side rocker arm.
