1. Introduction
Your HOFMANN automotive lift is type-tested and
designed to operate safely and economically.
If properly operated and maintained the lift will give
years of reliable service.
Please read this manual carefully and follow the in-
structions. This will ensure that your lift remains trou-
ble-free.
2. Scope of application
This HOFMANN automotive lift is designed to lift
passenger cars and other motor-vehicles which do
not exceed the rated load capacity of the lift and
which can be lifted by the vehicle-specific lifting
points.
Your HOFMANN lift must not be used for lifting peo-
ple.
When using the lift in paint-shops or in workshops
where there are inflammable materials containing
solvents care must be taken to minimize the risk of
explosions. In its standard design the drive of the lift
is not explosion-proof.
3. Safety rules
Only properly trained and authorized operators are
allowed to operate the lift.
Unauthorized changes and modifications to the lift
relieve HOFMANN from any liability for any damages
and injuries that might result therefrom.
Especially making inoperative or removal of the au-
tomatic arm locks or other safety features which en-
sure safe operation when properly used means a vio-
lation of the Health and Safety at Work regulations.
Rated load capacity of 3000 kg of the lift must not be
exceeded (pay attention to any additional load).
The lift must not be used in car wash installations.
The lift must not be used in hazardous locations. The
electrical system is not explosion-proof!.
In general any work on the electrical system such as
fitting of a plug and changing of connections, if ne-
cessary, must be carried out by a qualified electrician
in line with relevant national standards and the regu-
lations of the local power station.
Check the safety means during installation and ope-
ration for proper performance, and especially whene-
ver there was a failure of the lift.
Maintenance and repairs should be carried out by
skilled and qualified engineers.
Use original spare parts only. If other makes are u-
sed, the type test will become null and void.
Observe national regulations as to inspections of lifts.
In Germany and other European countries such in-
spections are mandatory every year. They have to be
carried out by skilled and qualified engineers.
