COSMO Line Array – Instructions for use
2 Planning Arrays
• Acoustic modeling with EASE Focus 3
Before deploying a COSMO line array, it is a very good idea to plan its setup with EASE Focus 3. This simulation software lets you map
specific areas to be covered or to be left uncovered by individual sound sources. Its views show you the directivity, SPL, throw patterns,
and signal-to-noise ratios for the various frequency ranges. With this information, you can make a general prediction about the COSMO line
array's ability meet the given application's acoustical requirements.
The software clearly displays the M/H units and their set angles once you align them as you see fit in the simulation. We recommend taking
a printout or screenshot of these angles with you when you go to set up the array.
• Mechanical limits in EASE Focus 3
The CRF-60 rigging frame can carry up to fourteen C 8s; the CRF-80 up to twenty C 8s. The rigging hardware is designed for common I-,
J- and C-curved arrays.
The CRF-60 and CRF-80 rigging frames are designed for up to 10° tilt. You'll get a warning message from EASE Focus 3 if you exceed this
maximum angle.
Up to ten C 8 M/H units, you can configure the array with any angle between the M/H units.
This does not apply to larger arrays with more than ten M/H units.
Their overall angle including tilt may not exceed 76°
.
• Examples setups with an overall °angle of up to 76°

0° tilt angle + 76° floor angle = 76° overall angle
8° tilt angle + 68° floor angle = 76° overall angle
Heads up: EASE Focus 3 does not check for compliance with the specifi ed 76° overall angle. A warning message will not
pop up if you exceed it.
The software checks for the array's total weight limit. A warning message will pop up if your simulated rig exceeds it.
Please note that this simulation takes only the speakers and frame into account. The actual weight may be far higher with cords, motors,
straps, steel cables, and the like adding to the load. Always check the given attachment point's working load limit.
Recommendation: Check the array's actual angles with a measuring tool while it is accessible. Cables and ropes may change the
angles somewhat, so they may not be exactly the same as in the simulation.
• Ground stacks
Stack no more than six C 8s on the ground using the CRF-60 or CRF-80, and no more than three C 8s with the CRF-PB. EASE Focus 3 will
not let you exceed this number in a simulation.
