3. Remove the connecting rubber tube between
air cleaner and throttle valve and the screws
attaching the air cleaner, and then remove the
air cleaner.
4. Remove the air filter element.
5. Remove the sponge material from its frame.
6. Wash the sponge material gently but
thoroughly in solvent.
7. Squeeze the excess solvent out of the sponge
material and let it dry.
8. Inspect the sponge material and replace it if
damaged.
9. Thoroughly apply foam air filter oil or other
quality liquid foam air filter oil (not spray type)
to the sponge material.
10. Pull the sponge material over its frame.
11. Install the air filter element.
12. Install the air filter case cover and be sure the
crankcase breather hose is connected.

The air cleaner uses a dry element never apply oil.
Do not run the engine with filter element
removed.
Be sure to refit the cover with the arrow (on the
rear of cover) upright, if the cover is improperly
fitted evacuator valve will not function and dust
will adhere to the element.

Open the air cleaner cover once a week under
ordinary conditions
–or daily when used in a dusty
place-to get rid of large particles of dust and dirt.
Check fuel line and fuel filter.
CAUTION
To avoid personal injury:
Be sure to stop the engine and remove the
key when attempting to make the following
checks and changes.
Never
fail
to
check
the
fuel
lines
periodically. The fuel lines are subject to
wear and aging and fuel may leak out onto
the running engine causing a fire.
The fuel line connections should be checked
annually or every 100 service hours whichever
comes first.
1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface and raise the
cargo bed.
2. The fuel line is made of rubber and ages
regardless of service period.
3. If the fuel line and clamps are found to be
damaged or deteriorated replace them.
4. Check fuel filter if it is clogged by debris or
contaminated with water replace it.
