Cable inspection and lubrication
WARNING
POTENTIAL HAZARD
Damaged control cables.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
Corrosion can result when the outer covering
of control cables becomes damaged. Cables
can also become frayed or kinked. Operation
of controls could be restricted, which could
cause an accident or injury.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
Inspect cables frequently. Replace dam- aged cables.
Lubricate the inner cables and the cable
ends. If the cables do not operate smoothly,
ask a dealer to replace them.
Recommended lubricant:
The chain and cable lube or
SAE 10W/40 motor oil
Lubricating the brake levers and
brake pedal
Lubricate the pivoting parts.
NOTE:
To access the brake pedal pivot.
Recommended lubricant:
Lithium-soap-based grease
(all-purpose grease)
