f)
Use only genuine Hilti S-NSD8; 11; 5/16"; 5/8"
screwdriving bits in good condition.
g)
Use only genuine Hilti screws.
h) The attachment and Hilti screwdrivers are optim-
ally matched.
i)
Always work at right angles to the surface of the
part to be fastened.
6. Before use
6.1 Fitting the attachment to the screwdriver
2
CAUTION
Disconnect the screwdriver’s supply cord from the
electric supply before fitting the attachment.
Remove the depth gauge and bit holder from the
screwdriver.
1. Fit the bit into the screwdriver.
NOTE
The bit clicks into position.
2. Fit the attachment onto the screwdriver in the
preferred working position and check that it is
heard to engage securely.
NOTE
The attachment engages in a number of
positions (every 15°).
NOTE
Check to ensure that the screwdriver is set
to “forward” rotation.
7. Operation
7.1 Inserting a screw
3
1. Insert the head of the screw into the socket at a
slight angle and then bring it into position between
the two jaws (fixed jaw and swiveling jaw) of the
attachment.
NOTE
The screw can be brought into position
only from the chamfered side of the jaws.
2. The screw has been inserted correctly when the
two jaws close around the shank of the screw.
3. Check that the jaws have closed properly by trying
to move the screw from side to side slightly.
7.2 Setting the optimum screwdriving depth
1. Using the thumbwheel to set the optimum screw-
driving depth
2. Turning the thumbwheel counterclockwise causes
the screw to be driven deeper.
3. Drive a screw to test the screwdriving depth
setting.
NOTE
The driving operation is completed only
when the two guide arms have opened completely
and the clutch of the screwdriver has disengaged.
Although the screwdriver continues to run, the
screw is driven no further.
4. Readjust the setting if necessary.
NOTE
Each audible click of the thumbwheel
corresponds to a depth adjustment of 0.2 mm
(0.008 in).
5. Turning the thumbwheel clockwise causes the
screw to be driven less deeply.
7.3 Removing a screw manually
4
CAUTION
Disconnect the screwdriver’s supply cord from the
electric supply.
1. Disengage the guide arms by pulling them back
at the gripping points (5) as far as they will go.
2. Pull the screw out of the socket.
3. Release pressure at the gripping points (5) and
allow the two guide arms to return to their original
position.
7.4 Removing the attachment from the
screwdriver
DANGER
Disconnect the screwdriver’s supply cord from the
electric supply before removing the attachment.
The attachment can be removed by pulling it away
from the screwdriver.
