connector. The factory-built chimney must also have one inch or more insulation with a minimum
of nine inches of airspace between the outer wall of the chimney length and any combustibles.

Sheet steel chimney connectors must be made from material that is a minimum of 24 gauge in
thickness and is separated by two, one-inch air channels. The outside of the air channel must be
separated from combustible materials by a minimum of six inches of glass fiber insulation. The
wall opening shall be covered and the thimble will be supported with sheet steel supports that are
made from material at least 24 gauge in thickness.
