Responsibilities of the operator (in commercial use)

The operator of the appliance is required to fulfill their obligations under health and safety laws. Aside 
from the safety instructions given in this manual, all regulations on safety, accident prevention and 
environmental protection applicable to the place of operation must be observed. 

The operator is required to become familiar with all applicable health and safety regulations and 
establish by means of a risk assessment any additional hazards that arise from the specific working 
conditions present in the appliance’s place of operation. The operator must incorporate the findings of 
this risk assessment into instructions on how to operate the appliance.

The operator is required throughout the service life of the appliance to verify that the operating 
instructions they created comply with the latest revision of all applicable rules and standards and revise 
them if necessary.

The operator is required to clearly assign and define the responsibilities for installation, operation, 
maintenance and cleaning and ensure that all employees handling the appliance have read and 
understood the manual. The operator must furthermore train their staff and inform them about the 
hazards involved at regular intervals.

The operator must authorize the operating personnel to reject instructions from third parties which 
breach safety regulations.

The operator must provide the personnel with the personal protective equipment (PPE) they require to 
perform their work. The user manual must be kept in a location where it is available to all personnel 
working at the appliance.

The operator is furthermore responsible for ensuring that the appliance is in proper technical condition 
at all times. The specified maintenance intervals must be observed. The operator must establish a 
procedure that keeps the appliance or individual parts from being put into operation until all maintenance 
steps have been completed properly and in a timely manner.

The operator must keep all safety instructions and warnings attached to the appliance in legible 
condition and replace them as necessary.
