6.2
Cable connection via the PG gland
Use shielded cables for the connecting cables to the transducers and interfaces. Connect
the shield fully to both sides of the housing of the devices, or to metal connectors or met
alized connector housings. Lay the shield over the full surface of the PG gland or connec
tor housing on both sides. If a connection does not have a suitable connector, lay the
cable shield over the full surface to ground or housing ground, e.g. using a shielded ter
minal. Also see section 6.1.
Remove the outer cable

Push the cable gland
with the gasket and
thrust collars over the
end of the cable
Strip the insulation
from the cable termina
tion and tin it
Shorten the cable
shield and strip the
stranded wires
Ground sleeve
Fan out the
cable shield
radially
Push the ground sleeve
between the stranded
wires and the cable
shield as far as it will go,
press the shield onto the
sleeve flange and cut off
any excess
Push the cable
through the intermedi
ate gland on the hous
ing as far as it will go,
move the cable gland
forward and screw
down tightly
