4.7. The Initialising Screen and Initial Scan for Channels
4.7.1. The Initialisation Screen
When you have connected all of the leads to the DEC 1000-t receiver, press the
power-on button on the remote handset and you should see a red LED light on the
DEC 1000-t.
Then turn on your television set.
If you choose RF cables to connect your DEC 1000-t to your television, you will first
have to tune the DEC 1000-t to your TV set.

The DEC 1000-t defaults to channel 36. Consult the instructions supplied with your
television and tune your TV to channel 36. Please make sure that the default channel
does not conflict with the any other device. See Troubleshooting – Section 9 page
39.
If you are using the unit with a SCART cable, as soon as the DEC 1000-t is powered
it will switch your TV to AV mode. If this does not happen then please press the AV
button on your TV remote control and switch modes manually.
You will be presented with the following Screen shown below and scanning for
channels will automatically start when the unit has completed initialising:

: Whenever you enter a Data Service this screen will also appear while
the TELETEXT data is being downloaded or the database is being reset.
