Removing the Grill Plates
Use the following procedure to remove the
top and bottom grill plates for cleaning.
BURN HAzARD: Allow unit to cool before performing any
cleaning, adjustments, or maintenance.
1. Turn the Temperature Control fully counterclockwise to the
“off” position, unplug the power cord, and allow the unit to
cool.
2. Remove the grease trap, if present.
3. Remove the two thumbscrews on the cover of the top
heating element assembly.
4. Lift the top heating element assembly off of the top grill
plate and set aside. The power coil still will be attached
between the top element assembly and the base of the
unit.

5. Remove the cotter pins from the axis pins on each side of
the top grill plate. Note the orientation of the cotter pins for
reassembly.
6. Remove the two axis pins.

7. Remove the swing arm from the
retaining screw on the top grill
plate.
8. Remove the top grill plate.
9. Remove the two thumbscrews
from the bottom grill plate (one
on each side of the plate).
10. Remove the bottom grill plate.
