Creating a Pool
3.
In the Pool Configuration table, click Add to add a video stream.
4.
Click Add again to add the next video stream. Your screen should like something like
. Notice that the device is calculating the pool bitrate as you add the streams to the pool.
SAG adds the streams that are available from the existing transports, one-by-one as you click
the Add button. If you don’t want a stream in the pool, select the check box next to it and
click Remove. Use the Resolution Conversion and Coding Format to help you identify the
streams that you’re adding.

5.
For each video stream in the pool, set the properties as follows:
VBR
. The bitrate processing for this stream. If set to CBR, the stream is always assigned the
nominal bitrate.
Min Video Bitrate (Mbps)
. The minimum bitrate used for the stream in the pool. The Min
Video Bitrate cannot be higher than the Nominal Video Bitrate. Use the default setting, or the
lowest setting that the complexity of the video stream can tolerate.
Max Video Bitrate (Mbps)
. The maximum bitrate used for the stream in the pool. Lowering
the Max Bitrate for streams that are low priority in your program line-up can free up pool
bandwidth for use by other programs.
Priority
. Sets the priority level for bitrate allocation. Enter a number from 1 to 5, where 5 is the
highest priority. The default is 3. If all other conditions are the same for 2 streams, the one
with higher priority receives more bitrate.
For more information about setting minimum and maximum bitrates, see the online help topic
Adjusting DTMX Bitrates
.
6.
Click
Apply
to commit the changes to the device. The pool will now manage the bitrate for
these streams.
