Problem
Solution
Flashing yellow
light.
• MixStation™ is starting to overheat. Stop MixStation™ and remove mixing
container. Allow to cool. Start LED will turn green when unit is ready to start.
Flashing red light
flashes one, two,
or three times,
then pauses and
repeats.
• One flash: MixStation™ has overheated. Stop MixStation™ and remove mixing
container. Unplug unit from outlet and allow to cool about 15 minutes.
• Two flashes: MixStation™ Spindle Shaft stopped rotating. Unplug unit. Rotate Spindle
Shaft to unlock. Unplug unit. Use a rubber spatula to remove any blocked food.
• Three flashes: Motor speed too fast (overshoot). Unplug unit from outlet and wait
30 seconds. Plug MixStation™ into outlet and continue to use. If error continues, call
Technical Services.
MixStation™ will
not turn on.
• Make sure MixStation™ is plugged in, then check for a blown fuse or tripped breaker.
Poor results.
• Process for a longer or shorter period of time. Adjust mixing speed. Use a gentle
up/down/rotating motion when mixing to help circulate and draw up ingredients to
provide more consistent mixing results.
Spindle Shaft and
Agitator stopped
moving.
• Turn MixStation™ off. Remove cup and only use a spatula or scraper to dislodge food
pieces.
Mixing Containers
For mixing and sanitizing, it is recommended to
use the Hamilton Beach Stainless Steel Universal
Container, #110 E.
CAUTION: Do not use glass mixing containers.
Always use a collar with paper cups.
Mixing Soft-Serve Drink/Dessert
The amount of time required for mixing will depend
on the temperature of the soft-serve, overrun %, and
the type of flavoring ingredients. A basic soft-serve
mix recipe follows:
• 8-10 ounces (236-295 mL) soft-serve
• 1 1/2 ounces (45 mL) flavoring ingredients
Mixing Hard Ice Cream
The model HMD1000 can also handle mixing hard
ice cream and mix-ins. A basic recipe follows:
• 1/4 cup (60 g) cookies or candies, or other mix-ins
• Four rounded scoops, or approximately 12 ounces
(355 mL) hard ice cream
• 1/4 cup (60 mL) milk
Place mix-ins in container first. Add ice cream and
milk. Mixing time will depend on the consistency of
the ice cream.
Cleaning
1.
Place a drop of detergent and 1 cup (250 mL) of
water into the mixing container.
2.
Position the container under the Spindle Shaft with
Agitator and mix on low speed for 5 seconds. Empty
the mixing container.
3.
Place 1 cup (250 mL) of clean water into the
container and repeat mix for 5 seconds to rinse.
Sanitizing
For best results, use the Hamilton Beach Universal
Container (#110E).
1.
Fill the container with sanitizing solution
(1 tablespoon [15 mL] of household bleach per 1
gallon [3.8 L] of water at 50°–70°F [10°–21°C]) to 3/4
full. Position the container under Spindle Shaft with
Agitator and run on low speed for 1 minute.
2.
Remove container. Empty sanitizing solution and
rinse container.
3.
To dry, run the MixStation™ on low speed for 30
seconds with empty container in place. DO NOT
RINSE after sanitizing is completed.
NOTE: If preferred, Agitator may be cleaned in a
commercial dishwasher.
