Read these instructions carefully before using the product! Incorrect use may lead to
accidents. This document shall be retained throughout the product’s lifecycle.
This Haklift beam clamp is designed to be mounted on the lower flange of a steel I-beam for suspending a
load or a hoisting device. If this model is used for beam lifting special safety measures should be observed to
ensure a good balance of the load, due to the fact that this clamp model has a shaft-type fastening point
instead of an eye. The lifting equipment (e.g. hook), which is attached to the clamp’s fastening point, must
retain a controlled position during the whole lifting process. It must be taken care of that it will not swing or
move along the shaft.
In lifting actions, if the clamps are used in pairs (advisable especially with long objects), a spreader bar or
similar shall be used to avoid sideloading of the clamps.
Safe use of beam clamps
Usage and inspections of beam clamps shall only be executed by competent personnel. Clamps shall be
inspected before each use for visible signs of damage. Never use a defective product.
Make sure that the load to be suspended does not exceed the capacity of the clamp and that the beam will not
be damaged by localized overloading. Attach the clamp to fully intact and straight beams only.
The clamp(s) must be positioned to the beam above the centre of gravity of the load to be suspended/lifted.
The load must not swing at any point. The clamp must not be exposed to side loading. The surface of the
beam in which the clamp is to be attached must be free from dirt and grease.
Before loading, make sure that the jaws of the clamp are fully embracing the edges of the beam flange and
the clamp is properly tightened (by hand). The profile of the jaws must be compatible with the beam flange in
order to enable a correct fit. Also, make sure that the load or the hook of the hoisting device is properly
assembled into the fastening point of the clamp (grooved centre of the attachment shaft).
Do not subject the clamp to lateral loading.
Do not use the clamp to lift personnel.
Always keep a safe distance to the load – never go under the load.
Ensure that no-one is under the load.
Do not use the clamp with swinging objects – lift the load slowly and steadily.
Never exceed the capacity of the clamp. The compatibility of the load and the clamp must always be
assessed by a qualified person.
Do not make any modifications to the clamp. No welding, grinding, unauthorized spare parts etc.
Do not subject clamps to corrosive influences (e.g. acids) or extreme conditions.
Do not use clamps for a purpose that they are not intended.
Inspections and maintenance
Ensure that the beam clamp is kept clean and moving parts lubricated. Always store the clamp indoors.
Regularly inspect the beam clamp for wear, damage, distortion, cracks and other defects which can
cause danger.
If any of the above-mentioned defects are found, remove the clamp from service and turn to a
competent person.
Once a year a thorough inspection for the clamp must be carried out by a competent person.
Inspections shall be documented.
