Parameters
network-address
: IP address of a network segment, which can be the IP network address of any
interface.
Description
Use the
network
command to enable RIP on the interface attached to the specified network.
Use the
undo network
command to disable RIP on the interface attached to the specified
network.
RIP is disabled on an interface by default.
Note that:
z
RIP runs only on the interfaces attached to the specified network. For an interface not on
the specified network, RIP neither receives/sends routes on it nor forwards interface routes
through it. Therefore, you need to specify the network after enabling RIP to validate RIP on
a specific interface.
z
For a single process, you can use the
network
0.0.0.0 command to enable RIP on all
interfaces, while the command is not applicable in case of multi-process.
z
If a physical interface is attached to multiple networks, you cannot advertise these
networks in different RIP processes.
Examples
# Enable RIP on the interface attached to the network 129.102.0.0.
