Manual for TreeRunner Pulleys
WARNING
This equipment may be used by experienced and trained
persons only or under their surveillance. This manual
does not replace training and an instruction book for work
at height, mountaineering, climbing or similar activities.
Before you use this equipment, you need a proper
training. Work at height, rock climbing and
mountaineering are dangerous activities which present
the risk of serious injury or death. Each wrong usage,
component selection or maintainance can cause damage
or serious or deadly accidents. You must have the ability
to judge your own safety and have to act correctly in
emergency situations. The product may be used only as
described below. The product must not be modified and
must be used with other components, that correspond
with the European Norms (EN). It must be taken care of
each range of use of the components of the equipment.
The product has to be considered as Personal Protection
Equipment.
LIABILITY
Grube KG and its resellers are not responsible for the
consequences, direct, indirect or accidental, or any other
type of damage befalling or resulting from the use of its
products.
You are responsible to understand the manual and to
familiarize yourself with the equipment’s capabilities and
limitations. You must take care, that the product is used
correctly and the necessary safety measurements are
taken. Possible rescue measurements should be taken
into account and planned in advance.
You are personally responsible for your decisions and
actions. If you are not able to judge the risks, which can
occur while using the product, you should not use this
product.
Misuse
The pulleys must move freely. There must not be forces to the
sides of the pulley. The diameter of the rope must be as
marked on the pulley and the rope must not touch the sides of
the pulley.
There are possible wrong usages for this product that are not
listed here.
Life Expectancy
There is no limitation to the life of this product. Useful lifetime
depends on the environment and intensity of use. A pulley can
reach its maximum useful life after one use. Under normal
conditions and with proper inspections before and after usage
a pulley can last years. Do not hesitate to retire a pulley if
there is any doubt in its structural integrity.
Inspection and Product Retirement
Always inspect a pulley before, during and after each use. In
addition it has to be checked annually by a certified person.
Check all parts of the pulley.
Retire a pulley under any of the following: a crack, a burr,
sharp edges, significant wear, any deformity. If there is any
doubt about the structural integrity of a pulley retire it. If you
have any doubts about damage to a pulley retire it. Do not
modify or alter a pulley in any way.
Product Obsolescence
There are many reasons why a product may be judged
obsolete and thus retired before the end of its actual lifetime.
Examples include: changes in applicable standards,
regulations, or legislation; development of new techniques,
incompatibility with other equipment, etc.
Choosing other components
The pulley must only be used with other CE certified products.
Seek qualified instruction if you are unsure.
Storage
Never store near heat sources. Gear must not come into
contact with corrosive materials such as gasoline, acids or
solvents chemicals, solution detergents, direct heat, sharp
items, high humidity and other harming sources. Gear should
be stored in a clean dry environment away from direct sunlight.
Store unpacked in cool airy place.
Maintainance
Only rinse in warm water and dry completely. After washing
and drying, apply a small amount of lubricant to the axis, and
clean off any excess lubricant. Always wash, dry and lubricate
pulleys when they have come into contact with saltwater or salt
air. If a pulley shows signs of wear or is damaged in any way,
assume that it is unsafe to use and retire it immediately.
Modifications and Repair
The pulley must not be repaired or modified. It has to be
replaced when damaged.
Warranty
The manufacturer offers a two year warranty against any faults
in material or manufacture. Exclusion from warranty: normal
wear and tear, oxidation, modifications or alterations, incorrect
storage, poor maintenance, damage due to accidents, to
negligence, or to improper or incorrect usage.
Use
Pulleys, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Pulleys with
aluminum wheels can only be used with synthetic ropes.
Pulleys with steel wheels can also be used with steel ropes.
