Thin branches can be sawn with one cut.
To prevent shredding and breaking, cut
branches in several sections.
When sawing thicker branches, fi rst cut the
underside around 10 cm from the trunk to
prevent it breaking o
ff , and then saw the
upper side. Finally cut the residual branch
stump o
ff fully close to the trunk. Seal any
sawn surfaces to avoid the tree bleeding if
you are cutting trees that are to remain there.
Note ! Lubricate the saw chain and blade
regularly as you work by dri pp ing a f ew
dro p s o f chain oil into the groove on the
blade .
Sharpening the saw chain
1 . Secure the blade in a vice .
2. The saw chain teeth p oint alternately in
the o pp osite direction to each other . First
shar p en one set o f teeth with a round fi le ,
then turn the p runing saw and shar p en
the other set o f teeth . The teeth must be
shar p ened f rom the side they p oint out
towards .
Mark the fi rst tooth with a f elt-ti p p en
or similar , so that you can see when you
have shar p ened the teeth all the way
around on the saw chain .
3 . Place the fi le against a tooth and p ush
the fi le f orward . Do not p ull the fi le back ,
but li f t it u p and fi le f orward again .
File each tooth with the same number
o
f strokes o f the fi le . The to p o f the fi le
should p rotrude a pp roximately 1/5 u p
above the tooth .
4 . Finally , fi le any riders using a de p th-
gauge tool and a fl at fi le . The riders
must all have the same height and be
a
pp roximately 0 . 65 mm lower than the
teeth .
Cleaning and maintenance
Clean the p runing saw by wi p ing exterior
p arts with a dam p cloth . Ensure the
ventilation slots are ke p t f ree o f dust and dirt .
Never use corrosive or abrasive cleaning
agents
, as they may a ff ect the p lastic p arts o f
the p runing saw .
Remove the saw chain and blade regularly
and clean the groove in the blade
. Remove
the cover and brush the area around the
gearwheel and the chain tensioner knob
using a so
f t brush .
Shar p en the teeth using a saw chain fi le
or electric grinder . Be very care f ul when
shar p ening the teeth ! Get the saw chain
ground by an ex p ert .
Re p lace the saw chain when the teeth are
worn down to the mark .
Check f or blade and chain wheel wear
regularly and re p lace i f necessary .
A lways p lace the p rotective cover (14) on
the blade when trans p orting or storing the
p runing saw .
