While wearing protective gloves, use a rag and
mineral spirits to clean away grease and built-up
grime from the surfaces of the shearing blades
(
Figure 31). Once the blades are dry, apply oil to
the surfaces with a clean rag.

The rear work stop assemblies must slide smooth-
ly in order to achieve accurate measurements
when shearing. Clean the rear work stop support
rods with mineral spirits when you have any trou-
ble adjusting the rear work stop position. Apply a
few drops of oil to the locations shown in
Figure
33 on each assembly.
