the same cutting height as set for the front wheels.
Replace the retaining ring.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 on the opposite side.
Mower Level Adjustment
To adjust deck level:
1. Put the unit on a flat surface and stop the engine.
2. Make sure all the height adjustments are in the
same cutting height position.
3. Measure the distance from the top edge of the
mower deck to the floor at the front of the mower
where the caster wheels supports are mounted
(Figure 58).
4. Measure the distance from the top edge of the
mower deck to the floor at the rear of the deck near
the height adjustment weldments.
5. If the distances are not equal, loosen jam nuts on
the rod ends.
6. Turn the height adjustment weldments until
distance is the same at the front and rear of the
deck on both sides.
7. Tighten jam nuts.
Mower Belt Replacement
To replace the belt:
1. Remove belt covers. (It may be necessary to
remove the pins from the height adjustment
weldments.)
2. Remove the tension spring.
NOTE: You will have to remove the gearbox support on
the left hand side and loosen the bolts on the right
hand side to remove the belt.
3. Remove the belt.
4. Install the replacement belt (Figure 59).
5. Reinstall the tension spring.
6. Replace belt covers (and any other parts).
Blade Service
Every 25 hours or operation or when the cut is visually
poor, check the blades for sharpness.
To sharpen the blades:
1. Raise the mower to the fully raised position and
block the mower.
2. Block the blades and remove the bolts and
washers from the spindles.
3. Sharpen and balance the blades.
NOTE: Gravely recommends having the mower blades
sharpened by a professional.
4. Reverse the above steps to install the blades.
Torque to 65 ft-lbs (289 Nm).
NOTE: Replace blades when over 1/2" (1.27 cm) has
been removed or the blades cannot be balanced.
12.6 CLEANING AND STORAGE
To store the attachment:
1. Remove the deck from the tractor and clean.
IMPORTANT: NEVER spray deck with water or store it
outdoors. Water can seep into sealed bearings, (which
are sealed against dirt and debris only), causing
reduced component life.
