32.Slide the cylinder block assembly over the shaft
and engage spline. Be certain that the pistons and
thrust plate remain in place. When properly
installed a slight spring tension can be felt when
pushing on the cylinder block.
33.Lubricate the exposed face of cylinder block with
clean oil.
34.Lubricate the thrust plate and insert in the
counterbore of the swashplate.
35.Install the cylinder block assembly using the same
procedure as Figure 32.
36.Insert the locking pin into the pump portion (upper)
of center section. Lubricate the slotted side of the
pump valve plate and slip it over the locating pin
and protruding needle bearing.
NOTE: The pump valve plate has two vee notches.
The motor valve plate has four vee notches, Figure 34.
37.Insert the locking pin into the pump portion (lower)
of center section. Lubricate the slotted side of the
pump valve plate and slip it over the locating pin
and protruding needle bearing.
38.Place gasket on center section using a small
amount of oil to hold it in place. Place the center
section onto the housing being careful that the
valve plates and cylinder block assemblies remain
in place.
39.Insert the cap screws and torque to 25-30 ft-lbs
(111-133 Nm). Check for proper internal assembly
by slowly rotating the pump, motor and control
shafts while tightening these screws.
40.Install charge pump.
6.11 SUNSTRAND TRANSMISSION
INSTALLATION
1. Place a new O-ring seal on the transmission. Use a
film of grease to hold the O-ring in place.
2. Carefully lower the transmission into place with the
transaxle.
3. Rock the transmission front and rear far enough to
connect both drive shafts.
4. Install the four mounting bolts and spacers
mounting the transmission to the transaxle.
5. Tighten drive shaft bolts.
6. Connect the oil cooler return and implement supply
hydraulic hoses at the transmission.
7. Connect the speed control rod and neutral detent
strap at the transmission pump actuating arm.
8. Connect the neutral detent spring.
9. Connect the damper at the transmission pump
control arm.
10.Carefully bend the screen back into place and
install the two bolts.
NOTE: Units equipped with four-wheel drive assist:
a. Connect the two hydraulic hoses from the
manifold to the bottom of the transmission.
b. Connect the two yellow leads at the reverse
override switch.
11.Connect the hydraulic suction hose to the bottom
of the transmission.
12.Install and connect battery, negative terminal last.
13.Service the transmission with 8 quarts (7.6 L) of
clean fresh SAE 30 motor oil.
14.Prime the transmission.
15.If neutral adjustment is needed, refer to section on
Neutral Adjustment.
