100. Glue the magnets in the fuselage using foam cyano.
Check beforehand that the
magnets attract those in the canopy frame, and do not repel them.
101. Bend the canopy frame upward at the engraved line, and apply a little foam cyano on
both sides of the resultant gap.
Apply the adhesive only in the centre; leave about
25 mm unglued at each end.
Place the canopy frame on the fuselage and allow the
foam cyano to set hard.
102. Apply glass fibre tape to reinforce the angled area.
103. If you wish, the canopy frame can now be painted. Painting should be carried out at this
stage, as it may be difficult or even impossible at a later stage.
104. Stick the decals on the canopy frame and the pilot heads (118).
105. Glue the pilot in the canopy frame using foam cyano or UHU-por.
106. Cut out the canopy (119) along the marked lines.
107. Place the canopy frame on the fuselage and trim it to follow the curvature of the top
decking. Check at intervals that the canopy (119) still fits over the frame.
108. The next stage requires two pairs of hands to avoid soiling the canopy with excess
adhesive. Mark the position of the canopy on the fuselage, using the fuselage joint line
and the canopy frame as a guide. Apply UHU-por to both sides of the canopy frame,
then place the canopy over it and press it into place to transfer the adhesive. Remove
the canopy again and allow the glue to air-dry. Apply UHU-por to the canopy frame
formers. Fit the canopy, press it into position and leave the adhesive to set hard; it is
safe to remove the canopy again after about 10 to 15 minutes.
109. The canopy can either be painted using foam paints, or finished off with the decals
supplied.
