LX6690-1 AND LX6695-1: SAFETY RAIL
ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE USE
SAFETY GUIDELINES - PLEASE READ BEFORE USE
WARNING: Important: Read and understand these instructions before assembling or using the
Safety Rail. Ensure that the Safety Rail is assembled as described in the following
paragraphs before use. If the Safety Rail is not properly installed, personal injury
and/or property damage could result.
WARNING: GF Health Products, Inc. assumes no responsibility for any damage or injury caused by
improper assembly or use of this product.
WARNING: If components are damaged or missing, contact your Graham-Field Health Products
dealer immediately. DO NOT use substitute parts.
WARNING: The Safety Rail is not intended to carry the user's entire body weight; its intended
purpose is to aid user in getting in and out of bed. Narrow beds (39 inches or less)
may tilt if full body weight is applied. Maximum user weight capacity is 225 lbs. Dur-
ing operation of the rail, no limb, head, or other body part should extend through hand
rail. Lock bed wheels before using Safety Rail.
Before assembling
WARNING: Before installing Safety Rail, ensure that the bed frame is secure and not wobbly.
1. Ensure that you can approach both sides of the bed; you will need enough room to reach under both sides of the
bed to install the Safety Rail. Have the user lie down on the bed; determine the users's waist position; and install
the hand rail at the users's waist position, on the side of the bed where the user gets in and out of bed.
2. Remove or fold down the mattress to expose the bed frame or box springs. Install the Safety Rail just below the
mattress.
Safety rail assembly - refer to picture at right
1. Note that the thumbscrews are pre-installed; you may have to loosen them slightly
to enable assembly. Check the picture below to ensure that you have all the compo-
nents. Lay the components on the floor at the entry/exit side of the bed.
2. Insert one end of connecting bar into post, and the other end into bed frame anchor
as shown. Center the connecting bar in the post and bed frame anchor; the length
of this assembly should be approximately the same as the width of the bed. Tighten
connector thumbscrews just enough to hold assembly together.
3. Position assembly on top of the bed frame/box springs, keeping the post at waist
position on the entry/exit side of the bed.
