The pumping processes are carried out using air lift pumps
(or "mammoth" pumps). The special construction of the lift-
ers ensures that the minimum water level is defined precise-
ly (see adjacent figure). If the water level drops below the T-
piece, no more water will be extracted. When installing the
lifters, make sure that the cross-connection is installed with
the T-piece at the height of the minimum water level.
