System requirements
To operate the stick, you need:

A PC with at least 466 MHz and one of the following operating systems:
Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98SE or Windows ME
u
64 MB RAM, more memory is recommended
u
Minimum free hard drive capacity of 30 MB
u
A free USB port
u
A CD-ROM drive
or
a DVD drive

About the installation location
Select the location for the PC to which you plan to connect the Gigaset USB Stick 54 so
that the radio waves are interrupted by as few obstacles as possible. Protect the Gigaset
USB Stick 54 from damp.
The PC with the Gigaset USB Stick 54 should not be placed directly next to other electri-
cal devices. Electrical equipment can mutually affect each other, the radio waves may
impair the function of other devices.
If your PC with the Gigaset USB Stick 54 is located under a desk or in a casing, this may
affect the reach of the wireless network. For greater reach, we recommend setting up
the WLAN component in a central, open position.

The Gigaset USB Stick 54 has an LED display for the connection to the network:
LED is off
The Gigaset USB Stick 54 does not have a connection to
a wireless network.
LED is on
The Gigaset USB Stick 54 does have a connection to a
wireless network and is ready to transfer data.
LED flashes quickly
The Gigaset USB Stick 54 is sending or receiving data.
