Checking Manual Transfer Switch
Operation
See Manual Transfer Operation section of owner’s man-
ual for procedures.
Electrical Checks
Proceed as follows to complete electrical checks:
1.
Verify generator set is in OFF mode.
2.
Set generator set MLCB (generator set disconnect)
to OFF (OPEN).
3.
Turn off all circuit breakers/electrical loads to be
supplied by generator set.
4.
Turn on mains power supply to transfer switch
using means provided (such as a mains MLCB).
5.
Use a calibrated AC voltmeter to verify mains
power source voltage across transfer switch termi-
nals N1 and N2 at generator set. Nominal line-to-
line voltage should be the output voltage selected
during installation (e.g. 220 VAC). If voltage is
incorrect, verify AC output and wiring from mains
power source to N1 and N2 lugs at transfer switch.
6.
Turn off mains power supply to transfer switch
when mains power supply voltage is compatible
with transfer switch and load circuit ratings.
7.
Verify wiring from generator set E1 and E2 to trans-
fer switch E1 and E2.
8.
Push MANUAL button on generator set control
panel. Engine will crank and start. Record cranking
fuel pressure: ______________.
9.
Allow engine to warm up for approximately five
minutes to allow internal temperatures to stabilize.
Then set generator set MLCB (generator set dis-
connect) to ON (CLOSED). Record running fuel
pressure: ______________.
10.
Connect a calibrated AC voltmeter and a calibrated
frequency meter across transfer switch terminal
lugs where E1 and E2 wires are terminated. Volt-
age should be the output voltage selected during
installation ± 2V (e.g. 218-222 VAC) at a frequency
of 49.5–50.5 Hz. If voltage is incorrect, verify gen-
erator set MLCB (generator set disconnect) is ON
(CLOSED) and verify AC output and frequency
(Hertz or Hz) at the MLCB. Verify wiring from gen-
erator set to E1 and E2 lugs at transfer switch.
11.
Verify wiring from generator set to E1 and E2 at
transfer switch.
12.
Set generator set MLCB (generator set disconnect)
to OFF (OPEN).
13.
Press OFF button on control panel. Engine will
shut down.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not proceed until generator
AC voltage and frequency are correct and within
stated limits.
Generator Set Tests Under Load
Proceed as follows to test generator set with electrical
loads applied:
1.
Verify generator set is in OFF mode.
2.
Set generator set MLCB (generator set disconnect)
to OFF (OPEN).
3.
Turn off all circuit breakers/electrical loads to be
supplied by generator set.
4.
Turn off mains power supply to transfer switch
using means provided (such as a mains MLCB).
5.
Manually actuate transfer switch to STANDBY
position. See transfer switch operator’s manual for
correct procedure.
6.
Press MANUAL mode button on control panel to
crank and start engine.
7.
Verify fuel pressure while cranking. Record crank-
ing fuel pressure: ___________.
