Note:
On 18000 BTU models, overload protection is internal to the compressor.
Is the compressor
short cycling
or
not operating at
all?
Unplug the unit. Move the
black wire from upper left-
hand terminal (terminal 4) of
relay RY101 to lower right-
hand terminal (terminal 3) of
relay RY101. Turn the ON/
OFF switch OFF. Plug the
unit in. Turn the switch ON.
Does compressor come on?
NOT
OPERATING
Check for line voltage
at compressor
between the C and R
terminals?
Voltage present?
NO
Check:
•
Circuit from RY101 to compressor.
•
Circuit from RY202 to compressor.
•
Driver board power-supply circuit
from relay RY102 to relay RY101.
NO
Check for 24 VAC from
main board terminal strip
terminal 13 to terminal 15.
Voltage present?
YES
Thermostat or
wiring.
NO
YES
Check for 5 VDC
at main board CN2
between terminals
1 and 10.
Voltage present?
Replace main
board.
NO
Replace driver
board.
YES
Note:
Compressor will
remain off for 3
minutes. When
compressor comes on,
check lines to indoor
coil.
Are compressor lines
cold?
SHORT
CYCLING
Reversing valve is
stuck in the heat
position. Diagnose
reversing valve.
NO
Compressor or
Capacitor.
YES
Compressor and
overload are
suspect. Check
compressor and
overload.
YES
Replace the black
wire from the lower
right-hand terminal
(terminal 3) of
relay RY101 to the
upper left-hand
terminal (terminal
4) of relay RY101.
Note:
Minimum comp./
fans-off time is 3 min.
Fan-on may be delayed.
Set the thermostat to heat
mode or cool mode.
Adjust the temperature set
point so that the unit will
begin to cool or heat.
Are both fans running?
Go to Dead Unit
troubleshooting.
