Problem
Suggested remedy
Slow or sluggish touch
response.
Ensure that configured I/O or communications
channels such as serial or Ethernet are operating
without error. These errors can cause higher system
overhead leading to delayed response to touch
inputs.
Ensure that flash drives, internal or external, are
operating without error. If the flash drives are highly
fragmented or corrupted, reads and writes to the
drive can experience significant delays leading to
delayed response to touch inputs. Corrupted
external flash drives may be corrected with Storage
Manager. See “Storage Manager” in chapter 3.
After adding expansion memory
in the DIMM connector, the
system won’t boot, or if it does
boot, an error message is
displayed.
When the system is first started, observe the screen
to notice any memory error messages from the boot
loader. If any messages appear, such as “DIMM not
12 row”, “DIMM not 32 bit”, “DIMM refresh
unsupp
orted”, power down the system and remove
the memory module. If the error message is
displayed from the Windows CE desktop, also
power down the system and remove the memory
module. For proper operation, expansion memory
modules must meet the requirements stated in
Appendix A, “Specifications.”
Touch screen does not work
reliably in corners or touch
areas activate just outside their
borders.
Touch screen may need recalibration. Select Start,
then Settings, Control Panel, Stylus, and then the
Calibration tab. Follow the on-screen directions.
Accessing the Compact Flash
(CF) card causes the system to
run slowly or hang up.
The CF card may be corrupted or full. Delete some
files or reformat the CF card. Select Start, then
Settings, Control Panel, and then Storage Manager.
Use the buttons in the Storage Manager dialog box
to format or scan the CF card.
