Chapter 2: Installation

Installation

Quick install

PROCEDURE

Snap the P485 on to the DIN-rail (see

DIN-rail mounting

on page 2–5).

Connect the Profibus cable (see

Profibus connector

on page 2–2).

Connect the serial Modbus network cable (see

Modbus connector

on page 2–4 for

details).

Connect a PC using the configuration cable (see

Configuration cable

on page 2–3).

Connect the power cable and apply power to the unit (see

Power connector

on page

2–4 for details).

Start the EnerVista P485/D485 Setup software.

Normally, the EnerVista P485/D485 Setup detects the correct serial port. If this does
not occur, select the correct port through the

Port

menu item.

Configure the P485 using EnerVista P485/D485 Setup and download the configuration
to the unit.

Configure and power-up the Modbus network device for communication.
