Certification & Safety Statements for GE Infrastructure Products Used in Hazardous Locations
August 2014
CSS-0013, Rev. A
2 of 2
Special Conditions for Safe Use
1 Consult the manufacturer if dimensional information on any flameproof joint is necessary.
2 Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to reduce the potential of an electrostatic charging hazard.
3 Consult the manufacturer for genuine replacement flange fasteners. M10x35 hexagon socket cap screws
of ISO 12.9 DIN912 grade steel (zinc-plated) or better with a minimum yield strength of 135,000 psi are
acceptable alternatives.
4 The sensor body temperature code rating is dependent on the process temperature. It is assumed that
the external surface of the sensor body will be, at worse case, equal to the process temperature (up to
140°C). In all cases, the electronics assembly will be marked
T6
as it will be locally mounted for process
temperatures up to 85°C and will be remotely mounted for process temperatures exceeding 85°C.
Markings
Markings appear on the instrument label which identifies the product model, serial number, operating ranges,
hazardous area ratings, entry thread type, and warning and caution information.
EU / EEA Installation Compliance
The use of this apparatus is subject to the EU directive on minimum requirements for improving the safety and
health protection of workers potentially at risk from explosive atmospheres,
Council Directive 1999/92/EC
. The
installer is required to be familiar with this document or the National transposing legislation.
