Slide the tube attached to the male
genitalia into the opening of the urethra
on the simulator, and gently press down
on the Velcro to secure it in place.

Lubricate the catheter before insertion.
NOTE: Catheterize the simulator in an
upright recumbent position. Catheters
smaller than 18 Fr may cause leakage.
Draining the Bladder Reservoir
There are several ways to empty
the bladder reservoir:
•
Sit the simulator over a bedpan with a
catheter in place, and squeeze the squeeze
bulb on the right side to push the fluid out.
•
Remove the waist rod separating the upper
torso from the lower torso, and squeeze
the fluid out from the bladder reservoir.
NOTE: Refer to Section 7. Routine Maintenance
to flush the bladder reservoir.
