HIGH TEMPERATURES—RISK OF BURNS
Your new Design Coffee Grind & Brew Advanced Pro is designed for
brewing coffee. Thus, some parts and accessories (e.g. heating element,
coffee basket, filter, carafe or cup) will get very hot during operation and
shortly thereafter, and hot steam and water could escape. Please adhere
to the following precautions to avoid injuries and damage.
• Hot water and hot steam can escape from the steam vent at the rear of the appli-
ance and from the coffee basket. Do not hold your hands and arms or any deli-
cate objects under or near these parts, while the appliance is operating or still hot.
• Hot water and hot coffee could cause severe injuries. During operation:
– Do not open the swing-out door;
– do not attempt to remove the coffee basket;
– do not remove carafe lid, or cup/travel mug.
• Always ensure the carafe lid is securely locked in place onto the carafe before
inserting in the appliance and before pouring. Do not remove the carafe from
under the coffee basket for longer than 20 seconds.
• Leave the coffee basket cool down and drain, before removing it, to avoid scalds.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Special care must be exercised, when handling hot
parts (e.g. coffee basket, gold tone filter or paper filter, carafe). The carafe is dou-
ble-walled to keep the coffee hot. However, it gets hot while filled with hot coffee.
Only lift the carafe by the handle to avoid scalds. Do not place the hot carafe on
a wet, cold or heat-sensitive surface. Always ensure that the carafe is completely
empty, before starting the brewing process, to avoid overflow.
• Before use, always ensure that the gold tone filter or one suitable paper filter
(Gastroback Art.-No. 98129; 85/215 mm in diameter) is inserted correctly in the
coffee basket. Do not use the gold tone filter in combination with a paper filter.
