Problem
The Possible Reason The Easy Solution
You notice some smoke
and a burnt smell during
operation.
The appliance is heated
for the very first time.
On the very first use, in general, the heating elements of
most grilling devices must be prepared for operation. This
is normal and harmless (see: ‘Before First Use’).
Residues of food are bur-
ned on the grilling plates
or in the heating area
on top of the appliance
(below the grilling plates).
Switch off, unplug, and leave the appliance cool down.
Then clean the appliance, thoroughly removing any resi-
dues of food.
Always remove any leftovers, when they are done and
clean the appliance after each use (see: ‘Care and Clea-
ning’). When removing the grilling plates, ensure that no
juices drip on the heating area.
The grilling plates are
too hot.
Immediately remove your food from the grilling plates.
Set the temperature level of the grilling plates according
to the requirements of your food. Refer to your recipe.
After reducing the temperature, wait until the heating
indicator turns to red, before placing food onto the gril-
ling plates again (see: ‘Properties of Your New » Design
Table Grill Plancha & BBQ « / Automatic Temperature
Control’).
You are using an oily or
sweet marinade.
Always dab your food completely dry, before placing
marinated food onto the grilling plate. Ensure good ven-
tilation. Select the temperature level of the used grilling
plate according to the requirements of your food, as
given in your recipe.
You are using an insuffici-
ent type of foil for grilling
wrapped food.
For cooking via the appliance, only wrap your food in
thick high-quality aluminium foil suited for grilling. Any
other type of foil may burn on the grilling plates, cause
overheating and damage to the surfaces, or even catch
fire.
A grilling plate is not
installed and engaged cor-
rectly on the housing.
Immediately switch off, unplug, and leave the appliance
cool down. Before operation, always ensure that both
grilling plates are installed and engaged correctly.
