What does the boundary wire do?
The boundary wire defines the robotic lawnmower’s working area.
What does the guide wire do?
The guide wire is a patented solution and is firstly required to guide the
GARDENA Robotic Lawnmower back to the charging station; secondly, it leads
the lawnmower away from the charging station to remote parts of the garden.
It helps the lawnmower to quickly find the charging station without creating
ruts and makes sure that all lawn is evenly mown, even in garden areas which
are further away from the station.
Do I have to bury the robotic lawnmower’s boundary and guide
wires?
No, both wires can be laid on the ground and fixed in place using the pegs
provided. After a few weeks the grass will grow over the cables. Alternatively,
the cable can be laid in the ground down to a depth of 20 cm.
Why aren’t the blades fixed firmly in place?
A safety function of many of the robotic lawnmowers is that the blades are
freely hung so that if they touch obstacles (e.g. fruit, branches), they fold
away. Whilst mowing, they accelerate outwards through centrifugal force and
cut the grass. However, if the blades come across an object, they immediately
slacken and retract.
