GeneralRecommendations

 

• 

Alwaysobservesafetyruleswhenperformingany 
maintenance.

 

• 

Thewarrantyonthislawnmowerdoesnotcoveritemsthat 
havebeensubjectedtooperatorabuseornegligence.To 
receivefullvaluefromwarranty,operatormustmaintain

 

thelawnmower asinstructedhere.

 

• 

Changing ofengine-governedspeedwillvoidengine 
warranty.

 

• 

Alladjustmentsshouldbecheckedatleastonceeach 
season.

 

• 

Periodicallycheckallfastenersandmakesuretheseare 
tight.

 

 

WARNING:

Alwaysstopengine,disconnectspark 

plug,andgroundagainstenginebeforeperforming 
anytypeofmaintenanceonyourmachine.

 

Lubrication

 

1. 

Lubricatepivotpointsonthebladecontrolatleastonce

 

aseasonwith lightoil.Thiscontrolmustoperatefreelyin

Lubricatethewheelsatleastonceaseasonwith light oil(or 
motoroil).Ifwheelsareremovedforanyreason,lubricate 
surfaceoftheaxlebolt andinnersurfaceofthewheelwith 
lightoil.SeeFigure6-1.

scheduleandinstructionforenginelubrication.

 

DeckCare

 

Cleanundersideofthemowerdeckaftereachusetoprevent build-
upofgrassclippingsorotherdebris.Followstepsbelow forthisjob.

Disconnectsparkplugwire.Draingasolinefromlawn 
mowerorplaceapieceofplasticunderthegascap.

 

2. 

Tipmower sothatit restsonthehousing.Keeptheside with 
theaircleanerfacingup.Holdmower firmly.

 

WARNING:

Nevertipthemowermorethan90ºin 

anydirectionanddonotleavethemowertippedfor 
anylengthoftime.Oilcandrainintotheupperpart 
oftheenginecausingastartingproblem.

 

3. 

Scrapeandcleantheundersideofthedeckwith asuitable 
tool.Donotspraywith water.

 

IMPORTANT:

Donotuseapressurewasherorgardenhose 

tocleanyourunit.Thesemaycausedamagetotheengine. 
Theuseofwaterwillresultinshortenedlifeandreduce 
serviceability.

 

4.            Putthemowerbackonitswheelsontheground.Ifyouhad 

putplasticunderthegascap earlier,makesuretoremoveit now.

Alistofkeyenginemaintenancejobsrequiredforgood 
performancebythemowerisgivenbelow.Followthe 
accompanyingenginemanualforadetailedlistandinstructions.

Serviceaircleanerevery25hoursundernormalconditions.

 

Cleaneveryfewhoursunderextremelydustyconditions. 
Poorengineperformanceandfloodingusuallyindicates 
thattheaircleanershouldbeserviced.Toservicetheair 
cleaner,refertotheenginemanual.

Cleansparkplugandresetthegaponceaseason.Spark 
plugreplacementisrecommendedatthestartofeach 
mowingseason.Checkenginemanualforcorrectplug 
typeandgapspecifications.

Cleanengineregularlywith 
aclothorbrush.Keepthetopoftheenginecleantopermitproper
aircirculation. 
Removeallgrass,dirt,andcombustibledebrisfrommufflerarea.

Enginesstoredbetween30and90daysneedtobetreated
