HC-530 Theory of Operation
The HC-530 is a transcutaneous oxide/carbon dioxide partial pressure
(tcpO2/pCO2) module that operates with the DS-5000 series monitor system.
The HC-530 module must be inserted into the IB-5006 for operation.
Only one HC-530 module can be installed into a system.
The HC-530 module consists of an I/F board (PCB-6597) common to other
modules and a dedicated TCP board (PCB-6619).
The HC-530 module incorporates a CPU and its peripheral circuits.
Analog signals are converted to digital signals and the converted signals are
processed by the CPU.
The module performs numeric measurements and calculations of parameters.
The CPU in the HC-530 performs the following processes:
- Measurement and calculation of pO2 and pCO2
- Measurement of the temperature and power consumption of electrodes
- Measurement of the time during which electrodes are put on the patient
- Electrode error detection and processing
- Electrode heating control
- Electrode calibration
- Detection of disconnected probes
The monitor performs the following process:
- Alarm issue/stop
Communication for numeric data is performed using HDLC protocol at a
transmission speed of 1 Mbps.
The monitoring condition (electrode temperature, electrode attachment time,
calibration, etc.) is received from the monitor to the HC-530 using the same
HDLC protocol and speed.
The module contains FLASH memory and can be upgraded through the
monitor from data stored on an IC card.
This isolation is contained on the HC-530 I/F Board.
The HC-530 has one key on the front panel. This is for tcpO2/CO2 calibration.
