Here is a list of the more common message displays. The basic troubleshooting tips
outlined here should allow you to solve most minor problems with your RL500. If after
applying these tips, your unit still does not operate properly, please contact our Technical
Service Department (1-877-MOWBOTS) for further assistance
(Illustrations of the message displays
appear on the following page)
.
9.1 RL500 Will Not Start (“No Wire Signal” Display)
Make sure the perimeter switch is connected and turned on. Check for cuts in the
perimeter wire (repair with supplied wire connectors). Make sure the RL500 is not
positioned directly on the perimeter wire. Make sure that all perimeter islands are at
least five feet from the perimeter wire
(fig.9-1).
If Replace Battery light is blinking,
replace the batteries inside the perimeter switch.
9.2 RL500 Hits an Obstacle While Edging
If the right wheel or mower body scrapes or bumps into an obstacle during Edge
Mowing, the perimeter wire is too close to the obstacle. Reposition the wire farther
distance from the obstacle.
9.3 RL500 Stops (“Recharge Battery” Display)
Plug RL500 into charger, until “Fully Charged’ message appears
(fig.9-2).
9.4
RL500’s Blades Get Caught in the Grass (“Mowing Problem” Display)
Raise the cutting height of the blade
(fig.9-3).
If RL500 is set to the highest setting and
blades are still getting caught in the grass, your lawn may need to be mowed by a
conventional lawnmower prior to using your RL500.
9.5
RL500 Quits Working (“User Help Needed” Display)
Remove any obstacles from RL500’s path. If the perimeter wire is too close to an
obstacle at the lawn’s edge, reposition the wire. Check that the wire does not make
an angle less than 90° (see 3.10). Move the unit a few feet and restart by pressing
the green button. If the edges have already been mowed, skip edge mowing
(fig.9-4).
9.6
RL500 Will Move, But Will Not Mow
RL500 may be set to ‘Mowing Off’. If so, change to ‘Mowing on’ in preferences
menu.
9.7
Charger Plugged In, But Will Not Charge (“Charging Problem” Display)
Charging plug is inserted in its socket at manual controller base, but will not charge.
Generally, this results from the charger not being plugged into an electrical outlet. A
faulty charger could also cause this display
(fig.9-5)
.
9.8
RL500 Will Not Move (“Wire Too Close” Display)
RL500 is positioned on the perimeter wire or too close to it. Move the unit a few feet
away from the wire and press the green button
(fig.9-6)
.
9.9
RL500 Will Not Move (“Path Blocked” Display)
RL500 is positioned too close to an obstacle or perimeter wire when starting.
Reposition your unit at least 3 feet (1m.) from the obstacle
(fig.9-7)
.
9.10 Charging Failure - Call Technical Support
(fig.9-8)
9.11 Rear Wheels are Free-Spinning
Raise the rear wheel height setting for better ground clearance.
