Assemble and Connect the Board

1. The heat sink must be fitted to the processor at all times.

2. Freescale recommends running the AdvancedMC in an ATCA, microTCA, picoTCA chassis or 

equivalent. This delivers the correct power and air flow to the board. The board should be inserted 
into the carrier chassis as per the specific carrier instructions. Please ensure the card is inserted the 
correct way. An example is shown in 

Figure 3

.

Perform Initial Board Power Up and Check LEDs

A complete list of all LEDs on the MPC8572EAMC is shown in 

Table 5

.

1. Switch on the power to the chassis. 

2. Check for the blue front panel LED and power good LEDs being illuminated (a full description of 

the LED operation is given in 

Table 5

).
