The addition of the TankSafe™ product to the degassing process quickly removes the fuel leg
of the explosion triangle as shown above in Figure 5. The TankSafe™ product droplets quickly
deposit on all surfaces inside the tank and form a vapor barrier that is molecules thick. The
TankSafe™ product barrier reduces the formation of new vapors from tank surfaces. Any pre-
existing vapors left in the tank headspace are pushed out of the tank by the ventilation air
stream. The reduction in evaporation from tank surfaces is what creates a safer, faster, greener
degassing process.
The NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit
The NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit is an alternative to standard degassing methods. It
is designed to rapidly reduce and maintain the concentration of fuel vapors at safe levels for
inspection or maintenance of underground fuel storage tanks.
The System consists of two components: a nano-droplet generator and a fuel vapor suppressant.
The patent-pending NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit creates an aerosol containing nano-
droplets out of a proprietary fuel vapor suppressant, the TankSafe™ product. The unit then
delivers these nano-droplets to the tank which quickly disperse to form a vapor barrier on all tank
and fuel surfaces.
The TankSafe™ product barrier is only molecules thick while significantly reducing the
evaporation rate of the fuel. The TankSafe™ product is readily biodegradable, non-reactive, and
non-toxic. Thus, when used properly, the NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit reduces the time
needed to degas the tank while creating a safe tank environment for inspection or maintenance.
NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit features include:
• Fast degassing times, which means less exposure for personnel.
• Continuous maintenance of vapor concentrations at safe levels for extended periods.
• Straightforward operation.
• Compact size: 356 x 825 x 1130 mm (14 x 34.5 x 44.5 inches).
• Portability: ~45 kg (about 100 pounds).
• No asphyxiation or environmental hazard.
• The TankSafe™ product, a non-toxic, biodegradable and non-reactive aqueous solution. (See

Process
Prior to using the NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit, the fuel must be drained from the tank
down to “dead stock” level. Preferably, the “dead stock,” meaning any residual fuel, would
be removed as well prior to applying the NV-ST-1000 TankSafe™ Delivery Unit. This must be
accomplished using existing maintenance practices established by your employer. As is the case
for any conventional degassing methods, the more complete the fuel removal, the more rapidly
the degassing process can be completed.
After fuel removal, the TankSafe™ product (the NanoVapor™ vapor suppressant) is added to
the tank in the form of an aerosol containing tiny droplets called nano-droplets. These droplets
deposit and form a barrier on all internal tank surfaces to reduce the evaporation of any residual
