War ning : disconnect the
electrical power before cleaning
the optical connectors.
Optical connectors are similar to
glasses lenses and, therefore,
their performance is decreased
by dust, particles, finger grease
and scratches. The surface of
the ferule can be checked with a
microscope.
SC-APC connector and adapter
To clean the optical connector, follow the following instructions:
Open the connections.
Apply one drop of a cleansing agent (pure alcohol) on the ferule edge and then
remove dust with a spray.
Before inserting all of the connectors, clean the adapter by applying a drop of a
cleansing agent in the central hole and then remove it immediately with a spray.
Insert all connectors in the adapter, avoiding any type of physical contact of the
ferules with the fingers or any other surface.
Notes :
- connectors/adapter must always be protected by their covers.
- Never open the connections in humid or dusty rooms
- use only pure alcohol for cleaning operations.
- scratched connectors can damage other connectors; therefore, they must be
replaced.
