7. Replace liners that are broken or have worn
excessively, or, if the thickness is less than
.125" (3.18 mm) at the top of the liner. See
Figure I. Replace liners every 300,000 miles.
8. Check the locking jaw. If dimension “A” is less
than 0.8" (20.25mm) replacement of the jaw
and lockbar (wedge) is required. See Figure J.
Check the fifth wheel operation and adjustment.
Using a test kingpin or 2" (50.88mm) diameter pipe,
follow the instructions provided in the Pre-Service
Procedure, section C and D, on page 11 of this
handbook.
