Connecting Speedometer Pickup
CAUTION
Excess water in bilge can damage engine or cause boat to sink. Do not remove plug
from speedometer pickup tube fitting unless connection is to be utilized.
The connection for the speedometer pickup can be accessed through a hole and fitting in
the inner transom plate.
1. Remove plug from speedometer pickup tube fitting.

2. Apply Loctite 565 to threads of barb fitting. Install and torque to 13 Ib-in. (1.5 Nm).

NOTE:
Barb fitting is designed for 5/32 in. (4 mm) hose.
3. Connect an appropriate hose (not provided) from speedometer to barb fitting. Secure
hose to fitting with a cable tie.
CAUTION
AVOID WATER LEAKING INTO BOAT. Speedometer hose is filled with water, espe-
cially during boat operation. Hose contact with moving or rotating engine parts
could cause damage to the hose resulting in water leaking into boat. Do not let
speedometer hose contact steering system components, engine coupler or drive
shaft.
4. Use hose clips and screws to mount speedometer hose to transom, away from moving or
rotating engine parts.
