7.5 Multiple Sensors
For an installation of two or more sensors in a RS485 network (2-wire, half duplex), each sensor needs its specific
RS485 network address (1
– 32) set via the control panel or alternatively via an ASCII command. Once all the units
are addressed, wire up the units in the 2-wire multidrop manner, whereas all A and B signals must be connected
to common lines. The common A signals must be routed to the TX+ and the common B signals to TX- terminal at
the USB/RS485 converter.
Addressing
If you are installing two or more sensors in a multi-drop configuration, please be aware of the following:
•
Each sensor must have a unique address greater zero (1
– 32).
•
Each sensor must be set to the same baud rate (default is 38.4 kBaud).
•
Once all the units are addressed, wire up the units in the 2-wire multidrop manner, keeping all A & B to
be common.
•
Now you can run the supplied software, as well as written communication software or an individual
terminal program to access the sensor for issuing commands and receive the responses.
