29. Electrical system
The fuses fitted in Flipper boats are so-called automatic fuses, which can be reactivated after overload
by pressing the toggle that has flipped downwards. Do not alter the rated amps of the fuses or install
any electrical components exceeding the rated current of the circuit.
If you leave the craft for a longer time, disconnect the power with the main switch. Cut the power when
carrying out any electrical installations.
When you remove or install batteries, do not touch both poles simultaneously with metallic items. Do
not touch the positive pole and metallic boat hull simultaneously.
Charge the batteries only with the charger supplied or with another, with similar capacity. Over-
charging may cause an explosion.
Flipper boats can be equipped with a shore power system. When using it, pay attention especially to
the following:
- Inspect the system at least every two years.
- Disconnect shore power connections when the system is not in use.
- Connect metallic housings or enclosures of installed electrical appliances to the
protective earth of the craft (the earth wire is green or green with a yellow stripe).
- Use double insulated or earthed electrical appliances.
Do not modify the craft's electrical systems or drawings. Installations, alterations and
maintenance should be carried out by a skilled marine electrician. All installations and alterations
should be properly documented and to be approved with manufacturer. Without proper documentation,
manufacturer has all rights to discontinue the warranty.
WARNING!
Do not touch a powered AC system.
WARNING!
Do not allow the shore power cable end to dangle in the water. An electrical field may be
created which could injure or kill a swimmer.
If the shore power cable is connected, do not swim close to the craft. A defective cable
may cause electric shock.
WARNING!
To avoid risks of fire or electric shock:
- Turn off the shore power connection switch before connecting or disconnecting the shore
power cable.
- Connect shore power cable to the connector before connecting to shore power supply.
- Disconnect shore power cable from the shore power supply before disconnecting from
the craft.
- Attach shore power cable plug cover securely to the craft.
- Do not alter shore power cable connectors, use only compatible connectors.
- Do not shut off the main power of the heater. Read the heater manual for clearance.
WARNING!
CAUTION!
Never disconnect the power using the main switch when the engine is running.
CAUTION!
Do not block the ventilation pipes of the batteries.
