Facing may be installed so it inserts behind the faceplate but not below it (see illustration below).

To achieve a facing that is flush with the drywall to the side of the fireplace, recess the framing
directly next to the fireplace. See the illustration below.

Mantel Requirements
•
The optional mantel must be a min. 24" above the top of the faceplate (54" above the base).
Hearth Requirements
•
The hearth must extend 16" in
front of the faceplate. It must
also match the width of the
faceplate (36" wide, centered on
the fireplace).
•
The hearth must be made of a
non-combustible material at
least 3/8" thick (it must not raise
more than 7/8" above the base of
the fireplace).
