Place the Lava Rock ( cinders ) around the burner assembly. ( SEE FIGURE 37 )
DO NOT place the cinders on the BURNER PAN; this will cause sooting!
DO NOT pack cinders around the valve. The valve will overheat! You must allow air flow around the valve.
WARNING:
Apply loose material, ( Embers & Lava Rock [ Cinders ] ) per instruction manual. DO NOT apply extra material not supplied with
this appliance. All previously applied loose material ( Embers ) must be removed prior to reapplication.
CAUTION: DO NOT place Glass, Glowing Embers, or Lava Rock ( Cinders ) in the area of the safety pilot assembly!
STOP!
Refer to the log set up instructions, packaged with your
Decorative Gas Logs, ( Box Two ), OR the following before
continuing with “ FINAL SET UP “.
4- Remove all contents from the Decorative Gas Log shipping
container. ( Box Two )
5- Check the contents of the shipping container against the shipping
and packing list, or the parts list in this manual. Report any
missing or damaged gas logs to your retailer.
6- Remove any and all protective wrapping from the gas logs.
7- Arrange the decorative gas logs, on the burner; placement of the
top accent logs is according to taste.
8- When you have completed setting up the logs, proceed to the
operation section, on page 14 for Match Throw Units, and page
15 for units with gas control valve.
OPERATION & LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS – MATCH THROW UNITS
FOR YOUR SAFETY – READ BEFORE LIGHTING
Natural Gas Match Throw Units, can be lit by long hearth match, hand
fire starter, or book match clip extender, inserted near the center of the
burner system.

STOP!
Read all warnings and safety information in this manual.

WARNING:
BE SURE THAT THE CHIMNEY DAMPER IS
FULLY OPEN!
3- Make sure that the manual shut-off valve, next to the fireplace, is
in the OFF position.
4- Wait five ( 5 ) minutes to clear out any gas. If you smell gas,
STOP!
Follow the safety instructions, “ WHAT TO DO IF YOU
SMELL GAS “, on the attached label, or on page one ( 1 ) of this
manual. If you do not smell gas, continue with step five ( 5 ).
5- Place a burning, long hearth match, or hand fire starter, on top of
the glass, near the center of the burner system.
6- Slowly, turn on the gas, at the manual shut-off valve, beside the
fireplace, in a counter-clockwise direction. Gas should ignite
within approximately five ( 5 ) seconds. Adjust burner flame by
opening or closing manual gas shut-off valve.
WARNING:
If ignition does not take place,
TURN THE GAS OFF
, at
the manual shut-off valve, and wait five ( 5 ) minutes, before attempting
to relight the appliance. If after repeated attempts, the appliance does
not ignite, contact your installer, or the
fire
gear Service Center.
